Sumba, the second time around, the first time I went there it was three years ago, traveling with my friends for a week. This one was for a personal holiday photographer for Herlambang Family from Jakarta, that we got to spend two days capturing their holiday on the land of Sandalwood. We explored this charming island from Waingapu all the way to Waikabubak. As I always had felt everytime I traveled, the time was never long enough to experience the joy.
Two day roadtrip was very fun with this small family, greet the morning on the Persaudaraan Hill, but then suddenly out car got stalled! So we decided to take a walk and have lunch on the way at a beautiful lavished village with its beautiful traditional houses. If only our car hadn't stalled, we would've gone to the waterfall, the road was a little bit challenging, slippery and all because it rained for a while. We caught the rain in the village of Prai Ijing, but we got to enjoy the freshness of young coconut on the Walakiri Beach. As we left for Wairinding Hill, the weather switched to be as hot as it could be LOL and then we went on souvenir shopping frenzy in Raja Parailiu Village, they had an eye for the renowned beautiful East Sumba woven fabrics.
As the trip continued, it took us hours to get to the Tanarara, but we were spoiled by the magical, unique, too-charming-not-to-capture Sumba landscapes along the way! I hadn't quite found the addictive Sumbanese food, as we had seafood more while we were there, yet the seafood was as delicious as most of the seafood dish elsewhere. Come to Sumba if you haven't been there! I certainly recommend Sumba worth to visit. Up until today I haven't got a chance to see the Pasola Festival, shall it wait for my third visit?
